Tuition found on the respective school websites or TACHSinfo.com. If the listed tuition was for 2022-2023, we increased it proportionally by 5% to account for inflation. This is a slight underestimate in 2023.

Results of Tutoring SHSAT Prep 2023

In addition to the results of schools that use the TACHS, HSPT, ISEE, and SSAT above, 12 out of the 19 students we prepared for the SHSAT, either in combination with the test above or separately, earned a seat at a Specialized New York City High School, such as Staten Island Technical High School, Bronx Science, or Brooklyn Technical High School.

4 students scored above 561 and well enough for a seat at the prestigious Stuyvesant High School. The average of the scores of the 17 students who reported scores was 514.

In the results above, we only included students who joined in September or prior. All student above were in individual or groups lessons for 6 to 60 weeks. Some started as early as 6th grade. Most had about 25 lessons and many practice exams. We did not include $42,000 in scholarships to Ursuline and Holy Child by a student who had one lesson and one practice test. We did not include a few scholarships of students who only had one practice test or a lesson, except one Regis interview who scored very poorly on the Language section on his first HSPT practice exam in October. John had a few individual lessons to improve his grammar, and he scored well enough on the Regis exam for an interview and eventual acceptance. John did not want to include this, but his mom said it definitely counts.

MasterofChemistry, John Zaborskis, and associated tutors helped students earn over $4 million in scholarships to high school in 2023, including 17 interviews to Regis High School, $420,200 to Xavier High School in Manhattan, $429,000 to Xaverian High School in Brooklyn, and $252,000 to St. Peter's Prep in New Jersey. Scholarship amounts are included for 26 other high schools in the NYC area.

Most lessons were online for the past 3 years. Our results show that our online lessons were just as effective as in-person lessons, if not more so. We’ve been able to tutor more students. Students attend more lessons online consistently without running into travel or other logistical issues for in-person lessons.

This is a sum of over 4 million dollars in academic scholarships. Most students made all three high schools on the TACHS. All of our students who reported results were accepted to at least their first choice. Many were accepted to the Honors and/or Scholars programs to schools such as Marymount, Convent of the Sacred Heart, Fontbonne, Kellenberg, Notre Dame Academy, and many of the best schools in the NYC area above.

$2,9432,200 in scholarships to Manhattan High Schools,; $316,400 to Staten Island High Schools; $515,000 to Brooklyn High Schools; $184,000 to Queens & Long Island High Schools, $168,400 to Bronx and Westchester High Schools; $382,600 to New Jersey High Schools

About 22% of the students in the program from 2022-2023 earned over $100,000

The average award of all 86 students was about $49,000 in scholarships over four years, which was better than previous years when all lessons were in-person. If a student received a scholarship, his or her individual average was $89,693! The median of those students was $61,100.

47 out of the 86 student we prepared earned a scholarship. Since over half the students earned a scholarship, the median of all students was non-zero and $12,000. The graphs below show 46 students and were created before some data was received.

44 out of the 86 students earned a scholarship over $10,000. This is over half of the students.

In 2019, 46 out of 86 8th graders earned a scholarship to high school after preparing with us. All others, 46, were accepted to high school.

33 students earned at least $25,000 in combined scholarships. This is 38% or more than 1 out of every 3 students.

26 students earned at least $50,000 in combined scholarships. This is 30% or more than 1 out of every 4 students.

19 of those students earned at least $100,000 in combined scholarships. This is more than 1 out of every 5 students. Out of 86 8th graders we prepared for the TACHS, HSPT, SSAT and/or ISEE, 19 students earned over $100,000 in scholarships. 26 earned over $50,000; 33 earned over $25,000; 43 earned over $10,000Many students earned multiple scholarships. If they took only their largest award, they saved a combined total of over $2,665,950 or over $57,955 on average.

Investing in your student’s education will yield many times the returns over their lifetime, whether it allows them to get a better job, earn more in their career, save time at a task, or solve novel problems that make them and those around them happier. Most of our students have earned many times their (parent’s) return on investment in only 6 months to a year. I teach all lessons in a way that shows how the material will be used in the future. What students learn in 7th grade are the building blocks from which all future math, science, and other material will be built. What they learned in high school admissions lessons will pay dividends throughout their entire lives.

John Zaborskis and associated tutors have helped 8th grade students earn over $17 million in scholarships.

MasterofChemistry, John Zaborskis, and associated tutors helped students earn over $17 million in scholarships to high school, including 59 interviews to Regis High School, $1,892,112 to Xavier High School in Manhattan, $2,565,000 to Xaverian High School in Brooklyn, and $1,048,900 to St. Joseph by the Sea in Staten Island. Preparation for the rigorous high school entrance exams in New York such as the Test for Admission to Catholic High Schools and High School Placement Tests has already begun. Contact me to talk about how we can get the best results from your student. 6th and 7th grade is the best time to start, not only because of the impending high school entrance exams but also because grades in school in 7th grade matter heavily for entrance into most high schools. Above all, most topics in algebra, physics, chemistry, math, and calculus rely on concepts learned/mastered around 7th and 8th grade.

From 2019-2023, 167 out of 351 8th graders earned a scholarship to high school after preparing with us. 183 were accepted to high school. 1 was not.

Slightly less than half the students who we prepared from 2018-2023 earned at least one scholarship. 160 of them earned over $10,000 in scholarships, 119 students earned over $25,000 in scholarships, and 55 earned over $100,000 in scholarships.

Out of 351 8th graders we prepared for the TACHS, HSPT, SSAT and/or ISEE, 55 students earned over $100,000 in scholarships 2019-2023. 86 earned over $50,000; 119 earned over $25,000; 160 earned over $10,000

Start Preparation for the High School Admissions Exams Now

Before the first lesson, I like for all high school admissions students to take a practice test to identify areas of focus, compare to future tests, and suggest tutoring groups or individual lessons. After that, we will have multiple TACHS, HSPT, SHSAT, ISEE, and/or SSAT practice tests before the actual exams. To start lessons, register for the First High School Entrance Test for 6th and 7th graders at the link below. If it is May or later, register for the next TACHS or HSPT practice exam.
